Ambiguous meaningful music at its best. This smokey, sultry song is beautiful on so many levels, and for the past three days I haven`t been able to get it out of my head. The song is haunting but I don’t get the feeling that it is sad, necessarily. Rather, I feel it is more reminiscent and nostalgic.

On the surface, Del Rey is perhaps singing about genuinely pleasing her man, however, through the tone of her singing one might presume she is almost getting impatient with him playing ‘video games’. She quotes that ‘I’m in his favorite sun dress’, meaning the video games don’t matter to her and that the smallest things such as wearing his favourite dress still mean the world to their relationship (or to her for that matter).
On a deeper note, if you listen to the levels and tones of the song, you could quite easily analyse on another level. Del Rey seems to change her vocals and tones through different verses. It’s almost as though she is re-addressing the relationship in her head: the bad and the good. Or maybe she is thinking of how she would like to be with another man:

The repetition of ‘now you do’ is an indication that Del Rey is trying to prove something to herself – maybe she has no belief that there is someone to love her, hence the line : ‘only worth living if somebody is loving you’. This song seems like she is very doubtful of someone`s feelings and she feels worthless. Possibly, also, the ‘video games’ are sex tapes, and that she is being used by this person and that she does every little thing to impress him so that he will one day love her, hence the ‘baby now you do’ – once again hoping deeper. His mannerism ‘ whistles her name’ almost seems like he doesn’t care.

She`s eager for his approval yet the tone of her voice suggests she knows deep down he doesn’t feel the same. She pushes it off and doesn’t say anything because she loves him and is allowing to let it go, however, she wishes her efforts would be recognised deep down, secretly.
