I ended up spending the entire sunny afternoon – which forever was forecast to be rainy – playing board games in a condo rec room. Indoor activities on sunny weekend days typically cause me a lot of anxiety but today was different due to what must be an adaptation. I can feel a difference: each summer day is lived as a standalone experience thanks to my daily photo project. I am always thinking about what I’m doing; the ritual has given me a certain mindfulness.
When we retired to the terrace I was able to enjoy some of the lingering weather before the inevitable rain. Today was the second time this summer I heard a cicada. I recall the first time was on July 5th and I was alone, lying in a west-end field.
