Apparition

Directly across the street is this beautiful lighthouse, The Great Lakes’ first.

The mysterious 1815 disappearance of its first keeper, J.P. Rademuller, and the subsequent discovery nearby of part of a human skeleton enhanced The Lake Light’s reputation as a haunted building.

Nourishing
Asylum

I had a mainland day which was offbeat; focus here is achieved in-part through the isolation aspect. But I needed to go to the office. I had lunch plans with a friend. I wanted to run with my group because on Wednesdays we do difficult workouts that are always easier alongside others. It rained all evening and I had to taxi to the ferry because I’m still not attuned to its schedule. I packed a lot of belongings to bring back with me which was a stress all to itself.

The second I arrived on the island I was enraptured by the unusual weather. The air is always warmer and more humid but tonight it was also inviting. The lake’s waves were so high that they were crashing over the breakers almost as if a high tide was occurring. I could hear nothing except for thick, uniform wind. The boughs of every tree were nimble and swayed under the influence of it all; the island was alive. I couldn’t wait to encourage everyone at the studio to step out and experience it for themselves. But of course, I didn’t have to. Everyone already knew. And within ten minutes, R and I were submerged in the massive whitecaps (which photograph terribly!)

s.p.a.d.i.n.a. isn’t an appropriate acronym for these photos as I wasn’t in Toronto and I wasn’t easily able to post anything daily.

I’ve returned to my beautiful city in Summer’s full grasp almost as if I never skipped a beat, yet I received such a rich education in the desert that I’m looking at things through another bevel of experience.
I am so humbled and lucky!

Tuesday:
LOVE. If you build it they will come.

Wednesday:
Post-Black Rock City 50K. My first ultramarathon & 10th marathon. ESC break enroute to the Unicorn Stampede. This hat gets a lot of wear in the USA.

Thursday:
The nights were frenetic, delicious. No photo I took of them does them justice.

Friday:
I sobbed uncontrollably at the Embrace burn. Love is so rare, so potent, and is often sadly fleeting. Not only 70,000 people but billions have felt the flame and burn of love. The fact that this is a universal experience was very powerful.

Saturday:

Sunday:
Without the Man as an orientation reference, it was very hard to find my way around. Everyone was experiencing this!

That night, the Temple burned. Along with it, thousands of wishes were released into the atmosphere around us. At the structure’s last collapse, everyone clapped in standing ovation at the festival’s finale.
That night was our Exodus.

Monday:
The Great Decompression Chamber 1: Sands, Reno
My Burn was mostly a solo experience because of this one and his talents which took him on a whirlwind playa adventure all his own. XO.

Tuesday:
The Great Decompression Chamber 2: Grand Sierra, Reno
Fellow Canadians S & B got married at the Temple and this was the beginning of their honeymoon. Brilliant!

Wednesday:
T Dot Island. Another (temporary) home.

Today:
Selfies are for the tired, dust-free alone.
