I have memories of tuning into CIUT as a teenager one night and hearing some girl’s voice and falling totally in love… and that was it. I have no idea who she was, what the show was, just one night.
One night, when I was a teenager, I brought a toy radio to bed with me and dialed around until I heard something I had never heard before. It was CKCU, Carleton U’s station, and it was electronic music. I fell in love. Immediately I needed to be a part of everything: radio, and that music.

The inner circle faced the outer circle.
Silently, in eleven-second intervals, the inner circle rotated to the right one person. Each new person was gazed upon and assessed. The exercise was meant for us to recognise patterns, insecurities, shortcomings:
What can this person teach me?
This person will break my heart.
What is this stranger thinking about when they look at me?
I struggle with finding myself beautiful. And eleven seconds of a particular face stood out: I was intimidated by it. Later, that particular face approached me! We exchanged phone numbers. And now we are friends. Ricarda is a mirror?
