Two just got married.
Two I hadn’t seen in twelve years.
Ten kilometers.

Six glasses of that red.

I flipped someone the bird on my run today. A man lunged at me jokingly as I passed by and startled me so much! Not funny!
Only one thing would hit my reset button after a spook like that. Hakka.

Intense,

Appreciation

I ended up spending the entire sunny afternoon – which forever was forecast to be rainy – playing board games in a condo rec room. Indoor activities on sunny weekend days typically cause me a lot of anxiety but today was different due to what must be an adaptation. I can feel a difference: each summer day is lived as a standalone experience thanks to my daily photo project. I am always thinking about what I’m doing; the ritual has given me a certain mindfulness.

And who you tryin’ to fool?
The only one who matters
Is stuck inside with you
As soon as you stop runnin’
And see that everyone’s afraid
But the thing that really scares me
Is that I almost didn’t say.
No you can’t run away.

Warriors at my window!
Hotel Mount View, Chandigarh

***

These guys were on a streak when our party arrived. We were all so starstruck and giddy to be staying in the same hotel and were glued to the series during all the wedding preparations. Hockey was just another task with which to busy ourselves. And it was everywhere we looked.

In the final game, the Delhi Waveriders took the trophy against our beloved Warriors. Sadness.

Starting today, most of these Warriors are representing their country in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games. I still have the love letter one of them slipped under my door (which was the bridal suite, and it was Valentine’s Day, and there was much drama because the letter was not penned by the groom for his blushing bride but from a hockey player for the blonde girl who played centre for her high school team and broke her thumb at OFSAA).
