I have memories of tuning into CIUT as a teenager one night and hearing some girl’s voice and falling totally in love… and that was it. I have no idea who she was, what the show was, just one night.
One night, when I was a teenager, I brought a toy radio to bed with me and dialed around until I heard something I had never heard before. It was CKCU, Carleton U’s station, and it was electronic music. I fell in love. Immediately I needed to be a part of everything: radio, and that music.

“They went on forever … When I – We – lived in Arizona, and the skies always had little fluffy clouds in ’em, and they were long and clear and there were lots of stars at night. And when it would rain, it would all turn … They were beautiful, the most beautiful skies as a matter of fact. The sunsets were purple and red and yellow and on fire, and the clouds would catch the colours everywhere. That’s neat ’cause I used to look at them all the time, when I was little. You don’t see that … You might still see them in the desert.”
